Announcements
We have provided this page fo announcements of future actions and
protests to avoid the reports newswire on this site being overwhelmed
with events happening around the world.
Please send your announcements to imcuk@indymedia.org.uk - for the moment we will manually put these up on the page, but in the future this will be an automatic upload form.
Please keep your posting short - the date, the event, the location, and a summary introduction of the issues of the action or protest. As we upload your announcement we will shorten it if we feel it is too long for the page.
Upcoming Events (with thanks to SchNEWS for most of the hard work on the listings:

IMF/Word Bank Day of Action. The International Monetary Fund and World Bank are meeting in Prague this September.
Prague 2000, S26 is the next big mobilisation against global capitalism. Mass protests and a festival of political arts and culture are planned for this historic city, with groups co-ordinating internationally (see below), continuing the ethos of 'resistance as transnational as capital'.
Since taking the IMF/World Bank dollar in 1990, the Czech Republic has been feeling the repercussions. The Czech group Initiative Against Economic Globalisation spoke of the "inaccessibility of health care and education, sharp increases in living costs, unemployment, the destruction of local eco-systems and the curtailment of union rights". The World Bank and IMF are basically global loansharks, lending governments' money with no real democracy or justice for affected communities. But as resistance grows so does spending on PR (see Schnews 253 'Corruption of all Knowledge Bank'), and also the fears of the authorities. While a demonstration will now be permitted on the 26th September, Czech police have announced that streets will be evacuated, schools closed and 30,000 residents moved out to give the 20,000 delegates a 'protective ring' of 11,000 police. In the UK there will be a series of workshops over the summer to discuss what might happen in Prague and why. A full on 'teach-in' is planned for early September, and simultaneous actions in the UK would be welcome on S26. The September 26th collective was formed by London-based activists after A16 and an international meeting in April in Prague. Co-ordination and mass mobilisation to Prague needs active individuals and groups around the country. Seeya there!
